Iowa College of Education

As Iowa's first public institution of higher education, the College traces its roots to the Univer­sity of Iowa's founding in 1847. Today, the College is much more than teacher education. Our graduates go on to become leaders in educational administration, counseling, psychology, student development, higher education, measurement and testing, and more. As part of a Big Ten research institution, we are proud to offer a personal, affordable, and top-ranked education for undergraduate and graduate students who want to collaborate with renowned faculty to solve problems and effect change in the field of education. Our students, which include a growing number of graduate students and those enrolling in distance learning, come from all 50 states and 74 countries.

In its 2016 report on the nation's best graduate programs, U.S.News & World Report ranked the University of Iowa College of Education 43rd best among schools granting doctoral degrees.

In its 2015 report on the nation's best online master's degrees in education, U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Iowa College of Education #1 among public universities in Iowa and 65th nationally.

The College of Education Counseling Psychology Program (Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations) has a 94% pass rate on the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology. The 2014 report from ranked the doctoral program #8 nationally in this area.
